* As with all solar devices, they are only as effective as their exposure to sunlight. The siren has a large capacity battery which will run for approx 22 days without any recharge, which providing the siren positioning is correct, should be enough to get through the winter months. Positioning wise, south or east facing is essential for all year round performance, in a location where there is no obstruction to the line of sight to the sun. A solar siren is not ideal for a north or west facing wall.
“ Pro's..... Easy to use Solar siren is superb Wide range of features Range is superb, I have a contact on the shed, 100 foot from the house! Con's..... Instructions could be better, but great email support from the company. Would be good to have a camera that would link to it too”
“ This alarm offers an advantage over a lot of others in that it can use your existing wired PIR and door sensors. This of course means less batteries to pay for and install each year. The system has been installed and running for a month now and hasn't false-alarmed once. It has proved to be a very stable and reliable system. The remote controls (key-fobs) operate from 100 feet away, through walls with no problems. The remotes have a handy sliding cover which stops inadvertent key pressing in your pocket. The panel can take a SIM card usually found in a mobile phone. This allows the system to text you if triggered and gives the ability to cancel the siren at a distance. I haven't fitted a SIM card due to the cost of maintaining it. A niggle that I have is that the display doesn't indicate that the system has been tripped in my absence. Without a SIM card fitted in order to text me, I have no knowledge of the fact that the system was triggered (although it is possible to look through the history). The other issue is that when cancelling the alarm using the keypad, the keys are a non-responsive membrane and the feedback bleep is the same as the bleep indicating that the system is counting down to an alarm, I repeatedly key in the code, as I'm unsure whether it has accepted my key-presses? The keypad gives the impression that it's really for programming only, and you are expected to use the key-fobs in normal everyday use? Overall it's a competent, reliable system.”
